It all starts with the materials in the works on display: these are the gateways to the art of each of the two artists. Felt for Carine Mertes, clay for Ellen Van Der Woude. These are two disciplines that imply know-how and experience of the material, the result of multiple experiments and trials. The works are created gradually, bit by bit, in a long and meticulous process. It's the art of creating, of giving artistic form to materials that metamorphose under the artist's vision.
